As of today, I have a bank account in Taiwan. I was growing really uncomfortable having stacks of cash lying around my place. Convenient - yes - but not so secure. A bank account at least gives the impression of security.
My bank card comes with a handy little holder. I'm probably going to keep it forever and ever.

Stacks of cash? I was under the impression that teachers were underpaid. The bank sounds much safer than leaving the stacks lying around your place with a typhoon on the way.
Ha ha.
Even a McDonald's employee would have stacks of cash after several months of employment ;)
I had thousand dollar bills lying around, but they are NT dollars.
And yes, all teachers are underpaid.
Especially those teachers--we all know who theyare--who give it their all. I'm sure you're being paid peanuts for the energy you're expending, not that you'd do it any other way. :-)
