"That is not money"

Just when you least expect communication problems, that's when they'll arise.

I was at the post office this morning. I wanted to do two things: mail something and buy stamps. The clerk didn't understand what I meant when I wanted to buy stamps. I showed him the stamp I wanted and told him how many. He looked confused and told me that the stamps I was showing him were not money.

Damn! And this whole time I've been in Taiwan I've been paying my rent and groceries with stamps. Guess I'll have to start paying for goods and services with cash from now on. Learn something new each day.

Paying with cash? Never too late to start a new habit. ;-)
